While the melody came easily, she struggled with how to start the song. I felt his presence, so real. As God ministered to her spirit, the words poured forth and Sheltered in the Arms of God was born. This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. Learn how your comment data is processed.

While he'd been out finding himself, his wife had been home fighting death. Yeah, I can't get past that to want the HEA for the hero.

Once again, Tara Taylor Quinn presents her small university town of Shelter Valley as both a toxic enclosure that suffocates its denizens with its Stepford expectations and a healing paradise that holds "the secrets to a happy life. "Sheltered in the Arms of God" Sheet Music
As the great-grandson of Shelter Valley's founder, everyone thought that Sam would complete his law degree and eventually go on to be mayor of their town. Married to his high school sweetheart and attending prestigious Montford University, the brilliant Sam secretly yearned to be a manual laborer. Feeling stifled by the Shelter Valley programming, he got drunk in Phoenix and had a one night stand with a faceless, nameless woman while his wife waited up at home frantically wondering where he was and if he'd been in an accident.
The next morning, he told the heroine where he'd been and what he'd been doing and left their house. Two weeks later, he left Shelter Valley and provided no details on where he was going. He joined the Peace Corps, and when he left that job, he joined a national relief organization. So for the past ten years he's been helping disaster victims and anonymously has been publishing a nationally syndicated comic strip in which he portrays the denizens of Shelter Valley as anthropomorphized animals. His ex-wife is a gazelle.
After he deserted her, Cassie the gazelle plummeted into a depression in which she couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, and stopped attending class. After a couple of months, she discovered she was pregnant. She tried to turn things around for the baby, but the damage to her health was too great and she gave birth at 7 months to a daughter with underdeveloped lungs who lived only a month.
Oh, and the scarring from the birth means Cassie can never have children. Although Sam had infrequent, brief phone calls with his parents in recent years, they never talk about Cassie and he was never told about the baby. Now he's returned to Shelter Valley with his traumatized adopted daughter in tow she saw her relief worker parents killed in a terrorist hijacking , expecting to learn that Cassie is married and has a brood of children.
He's distressed and shamed to learn that she has never remarried. But at the same time he's an entitled ass who has brought his damaged daughter to this place he rejected because she needs to be healed. So every time the story gets close to following through on the consequences of his actions and how he damaged the heroine, the narrative puts on the brakes to focus on the daughter.
It just doesn't work for me. The damage this guy has done can't be healed by paying it forward; he needs to pay it back.

Instead, the heroine fixes his daughter and then the heroine fixes their relationship when he starts to avoid her after learning about their daughter's birth and death. Although he's not Mariah's father, he has had other intimate relationships in the 10 years he's been gone.
His ex-wife, of course, has been celibate for ten years and focused all her energies on her therapy pet career because she can't trust her own judgment when it comes to love. There's just no balance here. His existential crisis is outweighed a billion times by her tragic loss. When he goes on about the horrible things he's seen in his rescue work and the emptiness he has felt for ten years without her, I just want to kick his nuts. I know I'm being hypocritical because the only reason I read the book was the promise of a "happy ending" where they remarry view spoiler [and have a miracle pregnancy hide spoiler ] , but part of me really wants to rewrite the story so that he returns to town to discover his ex-wife is happily married with four kids and the entire town including his parents shuns him so he goes away again and nobody notices or cares.

What an emotional intense second chance at love book, adored Cassie she is a survivor, after completely breaking she picked up and made a new life for herself.
Sam-one stupid jerk who had everything but he threw it away,he falls into that group of people who are lucky enough to have everything but they take it for granted and after it is lost they realize the importance of what they lost. Sam hurt Cassie and his parents very badly, left town now after a decade he is back with realization what he has What an emotional intense second chance at love book, adored Cassie she is a survivor, after completely breaking she picked up and made a new life for herself. Sam hurt Cassie and his parents very badly, left town now after a decade he is back with realization what he has lost and regrets his actions very much.
Now he has Mariah his close friends daughter to think about and only hope for her is Shelter Valley. Now he is back for good and to stay,he has found what he wanted to do and life has taught him few lessons. Sam-Cassie both are still in love but too much had happened and Sam's action has destroyed the trust between them. The story progressed really well,Sam-Cassie both talk what went wrong but Sam's action and what followed afterwards makes it very hard for Cassie to forgive him.
The author deals with all issues between Sam-Cassie,Sam was the one who hurt and broke Cassie and Sam was the person in the end to heal Cassie. Finally Cassie understands what went wrong and what Sam felt though he should have talked and tried harder to make her understand instead of doing what he did, after so much heartbreaks, hurt and pain both are able to forgive each other and get their HEA. Liked each and every character. Adored Sammie dog pet in the story,we get to see how pets can also help people to trust again who have being badly hurt emotionally.
Usually when a h is shown to have fertility problems-in the end the miracle pregnancy spoils it for me but here i was really happy that Cassie-Sam get second chance at becoming parents cause both deserve it and they will make a very good parent. Overall a good read. Jul 11, Beanse rated it did not like it. Yet another chick book where the woman falls completely apart without her big strong man to love her.
https://agendapop.cl/wp-content/out/rum-programas-espias.php She can't eat, sleep or ever be with another man again until he comes back. I would like to think that in this day in age, a woman would have enough sense in her head to get up and eat something even though her man walked out on her. Life does go on even if your cheating louse of a husband moves on! Nov 22, Nerissa rated it liked it. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Yes, i could actually forgive him for the infidelity, which is a surprising and very rare thing for me to actually think he was redeemed for that.
However, I dont think that the abandonment for 10 years- the selfish running from his problems, never discussing his despair with his wife, never asking if she would come with him and then not contacting her AT ALL in all that time - was excused or redeemed to any type of satisfaction. I actually think it was underplayed. If I was the h this would have been a huge issue, even if she hadn't lost their child which was totally on his shoulders forgiveness would have been a hard pill to swallow and we never really saw his guilt or acceptance that he did the wrong thing by leaving her like that.
It was only after he found out about the devastating consequences that he felt remorse and guilt. Basically he left with no explanation "to find himself" How fucking selfish. Na ah. Not even really necessary.
